Diana LaPenna, AMFT

Helping partners find their way back to each other.

Meet Diana

Hi, I’m Diana LaPenna, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in emotionally focused, attachment-based couples therapy. I help couples recognize and shift unhelpful patterns, deepen empathy, and build secure, lasting connections. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that healthy relationships are the foundation for individual and family well-being.

I hold advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), having completed ICEEFT’s Level 2 Core Skills training. In addition, I draw from the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Inner Child Work, and Sensate Focus techniques for intimacy and connection. With youth and adolescents, I often incorporate play therapy and creative interventions to help them feel safe, understood, and empowered.

Before joining Koi Marriage & Family Therapy, I worked at the City of Chino Human Services, where I gained extensive experience with both school-based and agency settings. I provided therapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, and led a teen group for youth navigating changing family dynamics. As a Counselor II, I also supported trainees and partnered with school administrators.

I earned my Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy from Alliant International University, California School of Professional Psychology. I am an AMFT (Associate #151539, CA) under the supervision of Monica Tiznado, LMFT (#81074, CA).
